What is Step Count Data?
Step count data comes from your iPhone's built-in motion coprocessor and/or your Apple Watch or other wearable. Apple Health stores daily step totals as well as hourly breakdowns.
How to Export Step Count Data with HealthSave
1. Download HealthSave
Get HealthSave from the App Store — it's free. No account or sign-up needed.
2. Grant Apple Health Access
When you open HealthSave, grant access to the relevant health metrics in Apple Health. Make sure Step Count Data is enabled.
3. View on Dashboard
Your latest data appears on the HealthSave dashboard. With Pro, you can track 7/30/90-day trends.
4. Export to CSV, JSON, or PDF
Go to the Export tab, select Step Count Data, choose your date range and format:
- CSV — opens in Excel, Google Sheets, Apple Numbers
- JSON — structured data for developers and APIs
- PDF — formatted report to share with your doctor (Pro)
Why Export This Data?
Analyze walking patterns by day of week. Track whether you're hitting 10,000 steps daily. Share activity data with your doctor or insurance wellness program.
